Central Sterile Supply Technicians are responsible for the cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and distribution of surgical instrumentation, medical devices, and supplies needed in surgery and patient care.

What is the average salary of a CSS Technician?

According to cbsalary.com the average salary of Central Sterile Supply Technicians in the Philadelphia area is $40,000 and the US National Average Salary is $40,180.

What type of jobs does the CSS training program prepare you for?

Central Service Technicians find employment in hospitals, veterinary hospitals, surgical centers, dental clinics, and pharmaceutical companies. The occupations that a certification in Central Service and work experience qualifies a student for include:

  • Central Service Technician, Lead Central Service Technician
  • Central Service Coordinator, Case Cart Technician
  • Case Cart Coordinator, Materials Management Technician
  • Endoscopy Technician

We provide technical and experiential hands on training to prepare our students for certification and employment as Central Service professionals.

Does Sterile Concepts Technology provide online courses?

Yes. The Central Sterile Supply Program has an online option and the Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) course is online.

How long is the CSS Training Program?

The Central Sterile Supply Training program is two days a week for sixteen weeks. This is broken up into two eight week sessions. For more information please contact us.

What does the CSS Training Program include?

Included in the training program students receive comprehensive instruction on current Central Service standards and regulations, field trips, hands on training, guest speakers, certification prep, and a 400 hour externship opportunity.

How much does the tuition cost for the CSS Training Program?

The CSS Training Program tuition cost is $2000. Books and fees are an additional $200.*Payment Plan available; Restrictions Apply

Is the tuition cost refundable?

The tuition and fees are non-refundable. However, the tuition cost can be transferred one time to the next up-coming program if a student is unable to attend the current program that they have already paid for in part or in full. *Restrictions Apply

How do I enroll into the CSS Training Program and what are the requirements?

To enroll in the Central Sterile Supply Training Program a non-refundable application/registration fee of $200 must be paid in order to secure a seat in the next up-coming class. In addition, an application must be filled out and documentation such as state ID and immunization records must be submitted. For more information please contact us.

What are the minimum requirements to complete the CSS Training Program?

A student must pass each eight week session with at least a 70% GPA or higher. In addition, the student must pass the Central Service I and Central Service II course with a 70% GPA or higher.

Will I be eligible to take the IAHCSMM CRCST Certification exam once I complete the CSS Training Program?

Students who complete the CSS Training Program will be eligible to take the IAHCSMM CRCST Certification exam and if they pass, the student will receive a provisional certification. However, the student will still need to complete an externship of 400 hours within a Central Processing Department to maintain their certification.

Does Sterile Concepts Technology provide externships?

SCT does provide assistance to our students with externship placement however, we do not guarantee that an externship position will be available at the time the student completes their training program. For more information on externships please contact us. *Restrictions Apply

If I complete the CSS Training Program will I be a certified Central Sterile Supply Technician?

No. Taking any of the courses provided by Sterile Concepts Technology, CRCST, CIS, or CHL does not indicate certification through IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management).

Does my tuition for Sterile Concepts Technology cover my certification exam fee?

No. the certification exam is issued through IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management) and the application and fee for the exam must be submitted to IAHCSMM directly.

Does Sterile Concepts Technology provide job placement?

No, Sterile Concepts Technology does not provide job placement.
